Improve Thermal Stability With Aluminum Titanate Solutions

Aluminum Titanate provides excellent corrosion resistance and refractoriness properties, produced from clean synthetic raw materials through an advanced reaction sintering process.

Aluminum titaniumate starting powders are produced by dissolving spent pickle acids containing aluminium and titanium into a mixture of nitric and hydrofluoric acid, providing an economical process to produce technical ceramics from non-ferrous metal melts.

Low Expansion Coefficient

Aluminum titanate is an oxide ceramic material characterized by low thermal expansion coefficient and high melting point, making it suitable for applications involving liquid metals like crucibles. Furthermore, this material offers good resistance against thermal shock.

To increase the thermal stability of aluminium titanate, a novel self-reinforcing approach based on rectangular elongated grains was devised. This allows for the creation of more compact microstructures which improve fracture toughness through deflection and branching cracks.

Thermal expansion behavior of calcined alumina-rutile added aluminium titanate has been evaluated using a multitechnique approach consisting of differential thermoanalysis, dilatometry, structural microestructural analysis and mechanical properties characterization. Our results demonstrated that increasing rutile content (up to 40 weight%) produced more dense composites with harmonic microstructural features and enhanced mechanical properties.

High Melting Point

Aluminum melting points are of critical importance to fabricators and engineers as it dictates how metal can be formed into shapes. Heating metals to high temperatures allows bending and extrusion which makes creating complex geometries simpler.

Pressure, alloying elements and heat treatment can all have a major impact on metals’ melting points; silicon or magnesium addition reduces aluminum’s melting point significantly.

Aluminium titanate boasts an even higher melting point and exceptional thermal shock resistance, along with non-wettability to molten aluminum and total gas impermeability, making it the perfect material for applications in aluminium foundries. Machinable ceramic material made of Aluminium titanate is commonly used to manufacture sprue bushings, riser tubes and pouring spouts on die casting machines; additionally it can be found used as pouring spouts in die casting crucibles/ladles used in aluminium industry applications as spacer rings in diesel particulate filters.

High Resistance to Corrosion

Aluminum titanate provides excellent corrosion resistance in harsh environments thanks to its high refractoriness and low coefficient of thermal expansion, and makes a suitable material choice for applications requiring high mechanical strength like automotive manufacturing.

Corrosion is a multifaceted phenomenon with many contributing factors. To effectively prevent corrosion from disrupting production processes and incurring expensive repair or replacement bills, it’s vital to understand its genesis in order to plan an appropriate mitigation strategy. Understanding corrosion processes will enable you to spot potential trouble spots early and reduce production losses through improved management strategies.

Blasch ALUTIT alloy provides outstanding performance in demanding environments. With outstanding non-wettability for aluminium molten pools, total gas impermeability, and minimal thermal expansion rates resulting in decreased reliability and safety issues when casting precision riser tubes; ALUTIT is also widely utilized as an aluminum foundry crucible.

High Strength

Thermal stability has become an ever-more vital aspect of electronics design. Aluminum titanate ceramics excel at withstanding extreme heat stress, protecting components from damage while enabling them to perform at their best in hostile conditions.

Aluminum titanate can be utilized in applications where traditional materials cannot. Thanks to its exceptional thermal shock resistance, Aluminum titanate can withstand sudden temperature shifts such as those seen in foundry technology or metallurgical melting processes.

Aluminium titanium applications save both energy and emissions by melting at lower temperatures. Furthermore, 3D printing allows this material to be formed into complex shapes for waste reduction and improved sustainability in high precision applications. Furthermore, eco-friendly automotive manufacturers have begun using it due to its low thermal expansion that is suitable for production of battery cases and exhaust systems made out of this material.
